چکیده

The freezing process o f the CN dumbbells in the orientational glass N a(C N )YCl!_x was studied by 23Na and 35C1 NM R for several concentrations x. The systems with x ^ 0.7 undergo structural phase transitions, whereas systems with x ;$ 0.7 stay cubic on the average down to lowest temperatures. For concentrations x % 0.65, the temperature dependences o f the NM R line widths give evidence that the transition into the glass state essentially consists in a deformation o f the local potential leading to a formation o f preferential directions for the orientations o f the CN ions. The temperature dependence of the spin lattice relaxation time T, shows that the motion o f the CN ions in their deformed potentials remain fast. With decreasing concentration x, the influence o f the collective interactions between the CN ions become less pronounced and a gradual transition to systems with decoupled CN ions can be observed.

Sodium cation dynamics in nitrate cancrinite: A low and high temperature

Static and Na MAS and H MAS NMR experiments at temperatures down to 100 K as well as high temperature static and Na MAS NMR experiments up to 873 K were carried out to study the dynamics of the sodium cation in nitrate cancrinite. In addition, X-ray powder data were recorded at 296 K and 673 K to obtain information about long-range order changes in the structure. Low temperature Na NMR experime...

Separating chemical shift and quadrupolar anisotropies via multiple-quantum NMR spectroscopy.

Chemical shift anisotropy (CSA) has been an invaluable probe of structure and dynamics for a variety of systems in NMR spectroscopy. Unfortunately, the presence of strong quadrupolar couplings has severely limited the ability to measure CSA in nuclei with spins I > 1/2. Here we show that these two interactions can be refocused at different times in a 2D multiple-quantum NMR experiment on polycr...

Optimal excitation of (23)Na nuclear spins in the presence of residual quadrupolar coupling and quadrupolar relaxation.

Optimal control theory is applied for designing pulse sequences to optimally excite a spin-3/2 system with residual quadrupolar coupling in the presence of quadrupolar relaxation. A homogeneous form of the master equation is constructed to simulate the dynamics of the spin system, and a general optimization procedure with a homogeneous form of the equation of motion is described. The optimized ...

Multinuclear Solid-State NMR Investigation of Hexaniobate and Hexatantalate Compounds.

This work determines the potential of solid-state NMR techniques to probe proton, alkali, and niobium environments in Lindqvist salts. Na7HNb6O19·15H2O (1), K8Nb6O19·16H2O (2), and Na8Ta6O19·24.5H2O (3) have been studied by solid-state static and magic angle spinning (MAS) NMR at high and ultrahigh magnetic field (16.4 and 19.9 T). (1)H MAS NMR was found to be a convenient and straightforward t...

51V solid-state magic angle spinning NMR spectroscopy and DFT studies of oxovanadium(V) complexes mimicking the active site of vanadium haloperoxidases.

A series of 11 oxovanadium(V) complexes mimicking the active site of vanadium haloperoxidases have been investigated by (51)V magic angle spinning NMR spectroscopy and density functional theory (DFT). The MAS spectra are dominated by the anisotropic quadrupolar and chemical shielding interactions; for these compounds, C(Q) ranges from 3 to 8 MHz, and delta(sigma) is in the range 340-730 ppm. Th...
